It reopened in 2009 and is operational with advanced booking required due to its popularity.
The Bode Museum, which focuses on sculptures, Byzantine art, and coins, and the Alte Nationalgalerie, housing 19th-century art, including Romanticism, Impressionism, and early Modern art, are also open and part of regular Museum Island tours.
