Air Service Introduced Connecting Zurich and the Northwest U.S. Regions
Hot Off the Runway: New Flights and Changes in Swiss Aviation
Gearing up for summer travel? Check out the latest updates from Swiss airports!
Edelweiss, a part of the SWISS family, kicks off the season with their inaugural flight to Seattle, WA on June 2nd, 2025. These bi-weekly trips will continue until September 15th. This expands Edelweiss's direct offerings from Zurich to four hot spots in the USA: Tampa Bay (Florida), Las Vegas, Denver, and now Seattle.
But wait, there's more! Edelweiss also has their eyes set on Canada with non-stop flights to Calgary from May to September, and to Vancouver from May to October. In addition, from July 2025 to October, Edelweiss will introduce new flights from Zurich to Halifax, operating on Thursdays and Sundays. All these flights depart from the comfort of Edelweiss's Zurich hub.
Travelers from the French-speaking part of Switzerland can connect to Zurich with flights from Geneva or hop on a train straight to Zurich Airport.
While SWISS, the national carrier, is not launching new international nonstop routes this spring, they're making adjustments due to a pilot shortage. Approximately 1,400 flights will be canceled from spring until October 2025, affecting many European routes and certain long-haul destinations. Passengers are being rebooked or offered refunds.
On the regional front, Bern Airport is growing its connectivity with five new destinations and charter flights to the British Channel Islands in spring 2025.
Stay tuned for more updates as the travel season unfolds! If you're a thrill seeker, keep an eye out for more changes and developments in the Swiss aviation market.
