The flight, AI388, took off from Indira Gandhi International Airport late by 45 minutes. But when the plane reached cruising altitude, the crew clued in to the radiator leak, prompting an on-the-spot tactical retreat. The plane safely landed back in Delhi and all passengers disembarked safely.

According to Flightradar24 live tracking data, the jet reversed course after covering some northern Indian airspace. A whopping 130 passengers and their hopes for a Vietnamese adventure were on board during the incident.

Air India confirmed the flip-flop, emphasizing that they took every precaution to ensure passenger safety throughout the ordeal. But they didn't get super specific about a new departure date for the rescheduled flight. Oh well, patience is a virtue, right?

This mid-air detour took place amid general concern about mid-air turnarounds and commercial airline tech snags. To quell fears, aviation safety experts stress the importance of transparent communication and speedy contingency planning, allowing passengers to stay chill in the comfort of their protective seat belts.

Air India, owned by the Tata Group, is currently having a reboot, aiming to upgrade its fleet and service delivery. They've been pretty hardcore about sticking to safety norms and guarding their reputation as of late.

Passengers affected by the delay were materially assisted –– including food and drinks –– while they waited for their rebooked flights at the airport.
