Airlines Croatia to Reduce Selected Fare Rates Following User Complaints

Title: Croatia Airlines Slashes Prices, Introduces New Flight and Namesake Aircraft Following Boost from Local Authorities

April 10, 2025 - In a bid to quell longstanding complaints about high ticket prices, Croatia Airlines is set to lower the cost of tickets to Dubrovnik and introduce a new afternoon flight from Zagreb. Additionally, the airline will name a new aircraft in its fleet "Dubrovnik" and equip it for landing in strong winds.

During a recent meeting with Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Franković and Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić, Croatia Airlines' management, local representatives, and airport officials reached an agreement[1][2]. On the agenda was a solution to address complaints about Croatia Airlines' steep ticket prices from both passengers and local authorities.

The collaboration between Croatia Airlines and Dubrovnik's Ruđer Bošković Airport, along with the City and County, will result in a model that guarantees a fixed quota of affordable tickets for Dubrovnik-Neretva County residents[1][2]. Furthermore, Croatia Airlines will offer later afternoon flights from Zagreb to Dubrovnik by autumn at the latest.

City officials and residents have been critical of the cost of flights between Dubrovnik and Zagreb compared to budget airline competitor Ryanair. Ryanair charges under €20 for flights from Dubrovnik to Vienna, while a flight to Zagreb with Croatia Airlines typically costs over €100[3]. It's worth noting that Croatia Airlines appears to pay airport taxes quite close to IRISH budget airline Ryanair despite the price disparity.

The meeting with local authorities has evidently spurred Croatia Airlines into action, as they are now taking steps to improve affordability and accessibility[3]. Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Franković made it clear on social media that they had managed to agree with Croatia Airlines to lower future flight prices[3].
