Fleeing the Middle East Conflict: Germans Exit Israel Via Jordan

Arrived at Frankfurt Airport from Jordanian Landing - Arrived in Frankfurt: Unique Aircraft from Jordan

Wanna know about the recent events happening in the Middle East? Well, buckle up! A special German flight touched down in Frankfurt, taking along German citizens and their loved ones who were trapped in Israel, while stuck in Amman, Jordan's capital.

A wholesome getaway is also seemingly in the cards for Thursday, but guess what? It's already fully packed! More on the way though, as the German Foreign Office announced. So, in case you're a German looking to flee Israel, you gotta make your way independently to the neighboring Jordan.

Other European nations such as Poland have organized a caravan to Jordan, taking care of their citizens. The Foreign Office urges Germans to register on its crisis preparedness list, Elefand.

Previously, a spokesperson stated that this isn't some kind of repatriation or evacuation mission. Instead, these are commercial special flights since the available airline options are simply not enough. The missions will operate for as long as the situation supports it and there's a need.

The region's situation is nerves-racking, as the Israelis keep their military operations against Iran, while Iran shells Israel without restraint. Thus, the airspace above these countries remains blocked, making departure flights impossible.

German nationals are left to journey to Jordan on their own

The German Foreign Office has decided against organized departures from Israel to Jordan's airport, fearing such actions might create extra risks. The first advice shared with those affected on-site is to comply with the Israeli authorities' security protocols. "They always emphasize that they advise against land travel or gathering in crowds at the moment," indicated the spokesperson.

As of now, over 4,000 Germans are registered on the German crisis preparedness list, Elefand, reporting their presence in Israel. In Iran, this number surpasses 1,000 registrations.

The German Foreign Office recommends Germans in Iran to venture overland towards the neighboring countries of Armenia and Turkey, as their border crossings remain open. Sometimes, it's also feasible to leave via the border to Azerbaijan. From all three countries, one can continue traveling to Germany via commercial flights. "Germans should seize these traveling opportunities to proceed their journey toward Germany," stated the office. “Our embassy in Tehran supports departure, whenever possible, for example through direct communication with the Iranian authorities.”
