Baltic Nations' Holiday Vacation Plans Unveiled

The summer travel season is approaching, and residents of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia are planning their holidays. According to recent data, Europe is a popular destination for travelers from these countries, with a higher percentage of travelers from Latvia and Lithuania planning European trips compared to Estonians.

While Estonians show the highest interest in domestic tourism, with approximately 14% planning domestic vacations, a significant number of travelers from all three countries are eyeing Europe as their travel destination. In fact, approximately 49% of travelers from Latvia and Lithuania, and 43% of travelers from Estonia, plan to travel to Europe this summer.

The cost of tickets and safety are the top two factors influencing the travel plans of travelers from the Baltic states. Many travelers are considering Europe, not just for its cultural attractions, but also for its affordability and safety.

For those staying within their borders, popular domestic destinations include Jūrmala in Latvia, known for its resort-style living, mineral spas, and long stretches of sandy beaches, just outside Riga. In Lithuania, the Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Druskininkai, a spa town with thermal water parks, are popular choices. Estonia's Pärnu, known as Estonia's summer capital, and Saaremaa Island, famous for its natural beauty and historic sites like the Kuressaare Castle, are also popular domestic destinations.

When it comes to international travel, Scandinavia, Poland, and Germany are popular choices. Sweden and Finland, due to their close proximity and cultural affinity, are often visited. Helsinki, known for its modern architecture and cultural attractions, is a frequent destination in Finland. In Sweden, visits to cities like Stockholm and beaches like Falsterbo Beach are common. Poland, easily accessible from the Baltic States, offers destinations like Gdańsk and its historic Old Town. Germany's Usedom Island, offering cross-border cycling and swimming opportunities, is another popular destination.

For those looking for a summer adventure, the Baltic Beach Route is a popular itinerary. This route includes stops in Poland, Germany, Latvia, Estonia, and Sweden, and can be customized to include cultural stops, leisure activities like swimming and sunbathing, and exploration of historic sites.

It's worth noting that the interest in leisure opportunities outside Europe is higher among Latvians and Lithuanians compared to Estonians. While 10% of Latvians are planning domestic tourism, 13% of Lithuanians are planning domestic tourism, and 17% and 18% of Latvians and Lithuanians, respectively, are planning to travel outside Europe.
