Bolt South Africa Introduces Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides

Bolt South Africa has rolled out a new feature for scheduled rides that offers real-time flight tracking, aiming to improve airport pick-ups and provide peace of mind for passengers.

With this new feature, Bolt will track your flight and adjust pick-up times accordingly, ensuring you're never left waiting at the airport if your flight is delayed or cancelled. This flight tracking system is available at major airports like OR Tambo (JNB), Cape Town (CPT), King Shaka (DUR), Lanseria (HLA), and Port Elizabeth (PLZ).

To use the feature, simply tap "Schedule" on the Bolt app home screen. From there, you can input your airline, flight number, landing date, or departure city. Riders can link flight details to airport pickups by entering their arrival airport, destination, and tapping "Add flight details". You can also choose how long after landing you'd like to be picked up.

Lerato Motsoeneng, Senior General Manager at Bolt, stated, "Customers can now enjoy peace of mind knowing their ride will adjust if their flight is delayed or cancelled."

The scheduling window for Bolt's rides was extended to 90 days last year, allowing for more flexibility in booking. If a flight is delayed or cancelled, the ride will automatically adjust or be cancelled at no extra cost.

Airports continue to be the top destination for Bolt trips in South Africa, and the usage of scheduled rides has increased by 275%. Bolt aims to improve airport pick-up visibility and reduce wait times by better matching riders with available drivers in the airport queue.

For corporate users, the flight tracking feature adds value through reliable airport transport, centralized billing, and reporting. This makes managing employee and client travel more efficient. Bolt's platform also offers features like the Family Profile, allowing households or groups to manage rides collectively through a single account.

In addition, the clear ride categories such as Business provide corporate riders access to higher-quality vehicles and drivers with better compensated services, fitting professional standards.

The flight tracking feature offers enhanced safety and peace of mind by providing real-time driver location tracking within the app, allowing riders to see where their driver is en route to pickup and during the trip. It also includes robust safety features such as trip verification codes, live location sharing, emergency assistance, and real-time monitoring by Bolt’s dedicated Safety Team.

In summary, Bolt South Africa’s flight tracking for scheduled rides is a comprehensive real-time GPS tracking system integrated into their app, combined with multiple safety tools designed to protect riders and drivers. It benefits individuals by improving ride safety, transparency, and convenience, and assists corporate users with better ride management, monitoring, and suitability for business travel needs.

This flight tracking system integrated into the Bolt app not only enhances ride safety for users but also reduces the hassle of waiting at airports, as it adjusts pick-up times based on flight information. Furthermore, the incorporation of technology in this lifestyle aspect of travel provides a seamless airport transport experience, particularly beneficial for corporate users.
