Scotland and Iceland Cruise Aventure Aboard the MS Amera

Setting sail in April 2025, our 17-day cruise journey, organized by Phoenix Reisen, embarked from Bremerhaven, painting a picture of an intimate and organized voyage. Upon boarding, the ship's delightful atmosphere took us by surprise. Cabins were spacious, bright, and stylishly furnished, while public areas like the library, palm garden, and outdoor deck with a pool were inviting and comfortable.

Our inaugural day at sea was tranquil, only interrupted by the thrilling sight of Aberdeen's maritime metropolis on the horizon. Free shuttle buses whisked us ashore, where we marveled at the imposing Marischal College with the 72-meter-high Mitchell Tower and visited the free maritime museum.

Exploring the Orkney Islands, we encountered the legendary Ring of Brodgar—an ancient stone circle older than Stonehenge. In Kirkwall, we beheld the stunning St. Magnus Cathedral made of red and yellow local sandstone, the Bishop's Palace, and Earl's Palace ruins.

Invergordon was our scenic next port, offering easy access to the Scottish Highlands. The town itself was charming, with its church and maritime museum, and guests reveled in the area's vibrant murals. Excursions took travelers to Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness.

Dine in style onboard with the Pichlers—a fine dining experience included with the travel price. Waking up to rocky seas, we reached Reykjavik, Iceland, where we reveled in the modern architecture, tidy cityscape, and relaxed vibe. The Hallgrímskirkja tower offered splendid views, while the Harpa concert hall and artistic promenade added charm to the capital.

Our Or Land Excursions guided us through Iceland's southern coast, revealing the impressive Skogafoss waterfall, the charming Dyrhólaey, the enchanting black beach Reynisfjara, and more. Interactions with the adorable Icelandic horses and Black Beach's unique basalt columns were highlights.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall showcased a breathtaking display of sun and rainbow, with a chance to walk behind the cascading waters. The majestic Kirkjufell mountain stood out as a stunning point of interest, while a frozen adventure took us in search of ice caps and glaciers.

Our longest post-excursion expedition was in Grundarfjörður, where we walked the Snæfellsnes peninsula, marveled at volcanic craters, and photographed colorful wooden houses in Budir. Exotic Icelandic landscapes unfurled as we ventured further, ending at beautiful Arnarstapi, with its dramatic cliffs and moss fields.

Our cruise concluded in Lerwick, Shetland Islands, featuring Puffin spotting at Sumburgh Head Lighthouse, archaeological site Jarlshof, and picturesque St. Ninian's Beach with its playful seal inhabitants. Winding down in Akureyri, we savored whale watching excursions, and awed at the vibrant streets of Seyðisfjörður.

Our incredible voyage came to an end, leaving behind endless memories of magical landscapes, cultural delights, and the MS Amera's refined atmosphere. Whether you're an explorer, a connoisseur, or a seeker of genuine experiences, this cruise promises unforgettable moments.
