Dance bar license surrendered by family of Shiv Sena minister Yogesh Kadam

In the heart of Kandivali, a local bar has become the centre of a political storm, with Shiv Sena junior home minister Yogesh Kadam and his family at the centre of the controversy.

The bar, whose licence is in Yogesh Kadam's mother Jyoti's name, has been at the centre of allegations that it was illegally turned into a dance bar. These accusations were first brought to light by Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction leader Anil Parab in the legislative assembly last month [8].

The Kadams, however, refuted Parab's allegations, claiming they had given the bar to someone else to run on contract [7]. Yet, recently, the Kadam family surrendered the licence of the bar, a move that some see as a damage-control measure [1][4].

Anjali Damania, a social activist, questioned the truthfulness of Kadam's family's statements regarding the bar, citing their recent surrender of the licence [5]. Damania had previously demanded Yogesh Kadam's resignation after visiting the bar [6].

The police raided the establishment in May and found it to have 22 bar girls [3]. Yet, local police officers did not react to the developments, with deputy commissioner of police Mahesh Chemte and senior inspector Jaywant Shinde not answering calls [2]. Shinde, however, has publicly supported Kadam on this matter.

Despite the growing calls from the Opposition for Yogesh Kadam's resignation and a Shiv Sena UBT delegation meeting Maharashtra governor CP Radhakrishnan to provide evidence about the alleged dance bar and seek Kadam's removal from the council of ministers, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde have expressed support for Kadam [1]. After an investigation, the CM gave Kadam a clean chit last week, and Shinde has publicly backed him, indicating no immediate removal from the council of ministers [1].

Currently, Kadam remains in office, focusing on his work while the bar licence has been officially surrendered, and the issue continues to draw political and public scrutiny [1][2][4].
