Debuting in 2026, Carado unveils a distinctive campervan featuring a built-in permanent staircase
Carado and Chausson Expand their 2026 Lineups with Innovative Models
Chausson and Carado are shaking up the campervan and motorhome market with their latest offerings for 2026. Both brands have added four new models to their lineups, with Carado offering motorhomes on either a Ford or Fiat base vehicle.
In Carado's lineup for 2026, the CV541 Pro and V347 are new campervan and motorhome models, respectively. The CV541 Pro is a unique addition, featuring a permanent staircase that leads up to a bed in a pop-up roof, integrated storage compartments, a half-height fridge, and a tall wardrobe. This is a rare inclusion, especially in a campervan at a budget brand level.
The V347 model, on the other hand, is a motorhome with fixed single beds in the rear. It also includes a bed that folds against the wall when not in use and can be folded out over the front dinette when needed.
The Clever-Lift bed, a cost option in the T135 and T328 models, is another notable feature in Carado's 2026 lineup. This bed does not obstruct the habitation door and allows for regular headroom. As an option, the seats below the Clever-Lift bed can be made into a bed, bringing the berth tally to four in Carado models.
The T328 is a new model similar to the existing T338, with fixed single beds in the back and a slimline 137-litre fridge for a fifth seat in the front dinette. The T135 model, available in Carado's 2026 lineup, features a French bed.
A rear lounge with parallel settees is located behind the side kitchen in the 5.41m-long CV541 Pro. The CV541 Pro is a campervan with a partition separating the cab from the rest of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, Chausson has unveiled information about its 2026 launches, adding four new models to its lineup. More details about these models will be revealed in due course.
In the motorhome market, Bürstner's Lyseo Gallery models and Hymer's Venture S model also include permanent staircases in their motorhomes, similar to the CV541 Pro. However, these are more common in motorhomes than in campervans, with the CV541 Pro being the first example in a budget campervan.
The Hampton 2 Story RV, featuring a spiral staircase, is another form of permanent staircase but in a more luxury or distinctive two-story RV design. Other stair options found in the market are more often retractable, foldable, or electric steps designed for entry and exit rather than permanent staircases leading to roof beds.
In summary, permanent staircases for easy roof access are quite rare, with the Carado CV541 Pro campervan being the first example in a budget campervan, while Bürstner and Hymer incorporate such staircases more commonly in their motorhome ranges. Stay tuned for more updates on Chausson's 2026 launches.
