K7 Week Returns for Another Year of Free Museum Access for Young Danes

Get ready for a week-long cultural extravaganza in Denmark as the K7 Week returns for its second year! From September 8th-14th, over 200 museums and galleries across the country will offer free admission to visitors aged 18 to 27, making art, history, and performance more accessible than ever before.

The heart of the K7 Week is inclusivity and accessibility, with its purpose being to encourage young people to engage with Danish culture and history in a fun and engaging manner. Project manager Astrid Sperling of cultural organisation ADBC believes museums should be for everyone, and she encourages young people to take an active interest in Denmark's history.

To participate, young people aged 18–27 can simply download a K7 card from the scheme's website. This digital card grants free entry to the participating museums during the week. In 2020, when the free museum scheme first launched, some 70,000 tickets were claimed, and this year, project manager Astrid Sperling hopes to outdo that number, aiming for 80,000 participants.

One of the highlights of K7 Week is the special living history experiment at Den Gamle By museum in Aarhus, where four young people live in an authentic 1970s commune for four days, replicating life in 1974 without modern technology. This live performance allows visitors to experience 1970s communal living firsthand.

K7 Week receives support from the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces, Copenhagen Municipality, and the Augustinus Foundation. The initiative aims to make young people feel more welcome at Denmark's cultural institutions and to have a lasting impact on the lives of those who participate.

So, mark your calendars, and get ready for a week filled with cultural experiences, concerts, theatre, and workshops, all at discounted rates or even for free! K7 Week offers a broad, accessible cultural experience aimed at young Danes and visitors in that age range.
