The Seventh Southeast Balkan Beekeeping Fair, scheduled to take place in Vranje, Serbia on September 21st., 2024, is set to attract a multinational audience, with participants from North Macedonia, Greece, Republic Srpska, Albania, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Montenegro. Organised by the Serbian Federation of Beekeeping Organizations in partnership with the European Beekeeping Association (EBA) and other organisations, the Fair promises a comprehensive programme spanning sales, exhibitions, education, promotion, economics, and tourism.

The Fair will kick off at 9:00 AM, with a cultural and artistic programme starting at 11:00 AM. Highlights include an expert lecture by Dr. Vet. Med. ZLATKO TOMLJANOVIĆ on climate-smart beekeeping at 11:15 AM. The ceremonial opening will be led by Vranje Mayor Slobodan Milenković, the President of the Serbian Federation Beekeeping Organizations, MD. Rodoljub Živadinović, and a representative from the Ministry of Agriculture.

The main event, however, is the Round Table discussion scheduled for 4:00 PM. Led by Boštjan Noč, President of the European Beekeeping Association, the Round Table will focus on "HOW WILL THE EUROPEAN BEEKEEPING ASSOCIATION SAVE BEES, BEEKEEPERS AND CONSUMERS?" The discussion aims to address current challenges and strategize ways to protect bees, support beekeepers, and educate consumers about the importance of these efforts.

In preparation for the Round Table, the EBA has outlined a strategic plan to address Varroa mites and viruses, promote sustainable beekeeping practices, protect pollinator habitats, engage consumers and industries, advocate for policy change, and collaborate internationally. These strategic steps are designed to combat the threats facing beekeeping and pollinator conservation.

Admission to the Fair is free for all interested beekeepers and citizens, and completely free stands are offered to exhibitors, with a promotional discount of up to 20% on the registration fees for exhibitors. Free parking is available for exhibitors and visitors in the courtyard of the Sports Hall.

The Fair promises to be a significant event in the beekeeping calendar, offering opportunities for networking, learning, and collaboration. With the EBA at the helm, discussions and strategies are set to shape the future of beekeeping and pollinator conservation in the region and beyond.
