Festival schedule unveiled for "Real Theater" event

The All-Russian Theatre Forum "Real Theatre" is set to return to Yekaterinburg's Theatre of Young Spectators (TYZ) from September 9 to 15, 2025. This event, which has been held every two years since its inception in 1990, aims to present a comprehensive picture of contemporary theatre in Russia.

This year's forum will see the participation of theatres from seven cities, including Voronezh, Novosibirsk, Moscow, Berezniki, Omsk, Nizhny Tagil, and the host city, Yekaterinburg. The Oleg Kudryashov Workshop (GITIS) will present a unique departure from the strict plot of the tragedy "Hamlet" with their production "I - Hamlet Error," focusing on characters and their motivations.

One of the highlights of the main program will be the Nikitin Theatre from Voronezh's presentation of the play "Prince of Homburg." Another intriguing production is the Omsk Drama Theatre's offering of "Rubtsov/Ryzhyi/Rif-My," a fusion of music, poetry, and acting that promises to captivate Ural audiences.

The festival hosts themselves will also present their year's premiere - a comedy "The Inspector General" in Anatoly Praudin's production. In total, the main program will feature 20 performances.

Oleg Loevsky, the initiator, founder, and driving force behind this theatre forum, emphasised the importance of individual responsibility, stating that it is better than collective irresponsibility. The heroes of "Rubtsov/Ryzhyi/Rif-My" will speak in the verses of Nikolai Rubtsov and Boris Ryzhyi.
