Frequent Frequent-Class Flyer Advocates for Widening Complimentary Perks
Jetsetter Dennis Bunnik Swears By Airline PJs
Travel buff Dennis Bunnik has logged over 700 air travels, with half of them in Business Class. While he appreciates the spacious seating and gourmet meals, it's the free sleepwear that truly captures his fancy.
Bunnik, the CEO of Bunnik Tours and aviation enthusiast, waxes lyrical about these PJs on his YouTube channel. Apart from the refined ambiance and culinary delights onboard, the sleepwear stands out as his top pick.
First-Class Fashion Trending Down Under
When it comes to lounging around in comfort, many passengers overlook the complimentary sleepwear. Bunnik, however, dived headfirst into the trend at his very first flight offering the sleepwear. Today, he can't get enough of these cozy gifts. "There are several airlines whipping these up, and they're pure gold," Bunnik enthuses.
These sleepwear sets usually consist of drawstring pants, short- or long-sleeved shirts, and slippers. In First Class, these PJs are now par for the course, and they're slowly making their way to Business Class too, according to travel portal "One Mile at a Time." Emirates, Qantas, United Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic all provide this service in Business Class.
Mostly found on night flights, sleepwear sets can also be requested during the day. Recently, Bunnik indulged in a gray-blue set on a nearly 13-hour Qatar Airways flight from Qatar to Australia, where he was lounging in Business Class. "These are some fantastic sleepwear," Bunnik raves in a video documenting the flight.
Business Class Buddies: Feeling Fresh and Serene
Those who turn a deaf ear to the sleepwear hype are missing out, according to Bunnik. "Firstly, it keeps your clothes wrinkle-free and clean," he explains. More importantly, "it promotes relaxation."
As soon as he dons his sleepwear, he checks out from the world outside. His ritual: he slips into the PJs after take-off. Once the seatbelt sign is off, he changes in the restroom. Before landing, he puts on his dress clothes again.
"If there's an emergency evacuation, you wouldn't want to be the one waddling out in a pair of sleepwear," he jokes.
