German Authorities Dismantle Far-Right 'Saxon Separatists' Group
German authorities have dismantled a far-right group known as the 'Saxon Separatists'. The group, which aimed to create an independent state aligned with National Socialism, practiced paramilitary training and acquired extensive military equipment. The Federal Prosecutor's Office has indicted eight German citizens for suspected membership in a domestic terrorist organization.
The group, led by Jörg S., planned to seize territory in Saxony and remove unwanted human groups, especially ethnic minorities and political opponents, by ethnic cleansing. Kurt H., another accused member, pointed a loaded and cocked rifle at a police officer during his arrest but did not shoot. The officer's self-defense averted a potential tragedy.
The group's activities included paramilitary training and acquiring live ammunition and firearms. The prosecutor leading the case, Michael Scharf, has charged the accused with attempted murder, assault on law enforcement officers, and violations of the Weapons Act. All accused are also charged with preparing a high treason offense.
The 'Saxon Separatists' were dismantled on November 5, 2024, following the arrest of the suspects. The group's plans for an independent state and ethnic cleansing have been thwarted. The accused, including Jörg S. and Kurt H., will face trial for their suspected roles in the domestic terrorist organization.
