Germany, Viet Nam Celebrate 50 Years of Diplomatic Ties, Look Ahead to Education, Green Energy Cooperation

Germany and Viet Nam celebrated the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and the 35th German Reunification Day with a meeting hosted by the HCM City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO). The event highlighted the strong ties between the two nations, particularly in HCM City, and discussed future collaborations in various sectors.

German Consul General Andrea Suhl praised Viet Nam's growth potential and Germany's commitment to working closely with the country, especially HCM City. She expressed Germany's willingness to engage in technology transfers and training programs to build a high-quality workforce in Viet Nam.

Germany, Viet Nam's second largest trade partner in Europe and one of its biggest ODA donors, is eager to continue its cooperation with Viet Nam in areas such as education, sustainable development, and people-to-people interactions. Andrea Suhl will work closely with HUFO to implement people-to-people diplomatic activities and strengthen the friendship between Vietnamese and German people. German businesses are also keen on partnering with Vietnamese counterparts in these areas.

HCM City is already working with German partners on green energy, smart city development, healthcare, finance, and climate change mitigation. The city has seen significant developments in the bilateral relationship, including the establishment of the German International School, the Viet Nam-Germany University (VGU), and the Deutsches Haus HCM City building complex. The Viet Nam-Germany Friendship Association in HCM City has been actively involved in cultural exchange and people-to-people activities.

Looking ahead, Germany will continue to support Viet Nam and HCM City in their development efforts. With strong commitments from both sides, the future of the Viet Nam-Germany relationship looks promising, particularly in the areas of education, sustainable development, and people-to-people interactions.
