Kempen Heribert Welter has been appointed as the new honorary lieutenant at Prince-Garden Kempen.
New Honorary Lieutenant Heribert Welter: A Man of Many Roles
Heribert Welter, a well-known figure in his community, has taken on a new role as the Honorary Lieutenant. This appointment was announced at the Summer Meeting of the Honorary Lieutenants, and Welter expressed his delight at the news.
Welter, who has been a passive member of the guard since March 2000, is no stranger to leadership positions. He is the chairman of the apprenticeship examination committee in his industry and the chairman of the St. Josef support association. Additionally, he is a member of the church council and the master of St. Marien Hüskes Krone.
Despite not participating actively in the carnival, Welter has a close connection with the guards. He knows many of his predecessors from other associations, and Peter van der Bloemen, chairman of the Prince's Guard Kempen, is optimistic about Welter's ability to harmonize with his predecessors.
Welter's leadership skills have also been evident in his humanitarian efforts. Alongside his friend Markus Dohmen, he initiated the Ukraine aid project in 2022, which has since organised 39 aid transports. They travel to Ukraine by car and trailer for these aid transports, spending a night in Ukraine before returning home. A trip to Ukraine takes about 20 hours, and they often have to wait between four and eight hours at the border.
Welter is pleased with his new role but hopes for a quick end to the war in Ukraine. The inauguration ceremony for Welter will take place on January 10th at the uniform inspection in the Kolpinghaus.
In addition to his humanitarian and leadership roles, Welter has regularly participated in the Rosenmontag parade with his shooting brotherhood St. Marien Hüskes Krone Schmalbroich. He is also closely connected with the guards, being the chairman of the apprenticeship examination committee in his industry and a member of the church council.
Despite his many commitments, Welter's friendship with Andreas Buck led him to initiate the successful Ukraine aid project. This project, along with his new role as Honorary Lieutenant, further cements Welter's status as a respected figure in his community.
