Lions Club Funds 25 School Bus Trips to Neuwied Zoo for Wildlife Learning
The Lions Club Neuwied has stepped in to support educational visits to Neuwied Zoo. They have funded 25 school bus trips, making it easier for primary school children to learn about wildlife firsthand.
The new primary school unit on Humboldt penguins has been introduced, adding to the Zoo School's educational offerings. The Zoo School, which has been operating for over 30 years, offers workshops, seminars, and school programs to enhance learning.
Transportation costs have been a barrier for school groups, but the Lions Club Neuwied - Andernach has provided a solution. They have funded 25 trips for primary schools, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder educational outings. Mr. Mahlert, a former county deputy and zoo enthusiast, mediated contacts for transportation solutions.
The new Zoo School building has significantly increased its capacities, allowing for more students to participate in educational programs. However, a lack of public transportation connection to Zoo Neuwied has posed a challenge. The Lions Club's initiative has helped overcome this obstacle, with the first primary schools already registering and booking 15 bus trips for the school year 2025/2026.
