Off the Beaten Path: Hidden Gem Kakkayam Dam in Kerala, a Rewarding Destination to Discover

The author and his family felt as if they were stepping into a scene from "Malgudi Days" while at Kakkayam Dam, with its winding rivers, blue hills, and sparkling waters. They wondered why people are trapped in congested, polluted cities when they could be living in a place like Kakkayam Dam.
Kakkayam Dam is open from 10 AM to 5 PM, and the nearest railway station is Kozhikode, about 65 km away, while the nearest airport is Karipur International Airport, approximately 80 km away. Despite its remote location, the dam is not a popular tourist spot and is rarely visited, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat.
