Regensburg Launches 'Hildegard's Ice Bee' for Seniors and Dementia Care

Regensburg's Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer launched an intergenerational initiative, 'Hildegard's Ice Bee', on 25th September 2025. This project brings free ice cream to seniors and people with dementia in nursing and care homes across the city. The action, named after former mayor Hildegard Anke, received a red 'Ape' vehicle to match the city's colors and support those with memory issues.

The 'Ape' vehicle, donated by 'Hildegard Anke', is a symbol of unity and joy. It's not just an ice cream truck; it's a mobile connector between generations. The project involves partners from sports, gastronomy, and social facilities, creating a strong community bond.

Professional support comes from Maltese Regensburg, while volunteer help pours in from local sports clubs and an ice cream parlor. The project runs throughout the summer months, visiting homes and spreading smiles one scoop at a time.

Regensburg's 'Hildegard's Ice Bee' project is more than a sweet treat. It's a heartwarming initiative that brings people together, supports seniors, and brightens up summer days in the city.
