Reykjavik Considers the Safest Destination for Travelers globally
In a recent announcement, Carol Mueller, the president of Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection Insurance Company, highlighted that while certain cities are deemed the safest for travel, it's important to remember that problems can still arise during journeys.
The company's annual State of Travel Insurance Safest Destinations report has identified the top 29 safest cities for tourists, taking into account factors such as political stability, health standards, and low crime rates. These elements contribute significantly to a destination's overall travel safety and appeal.
The list includes cities from Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Notably, Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, has been ranked as the safest city for travel domestically, while the Netherlands takes the top spot as the overall safest country for travel, followed by Denmark and Iceland.
Other countries on the list of safest countries include Australia, Norway, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, New Zealand, Spain, United Arab Emirates, UK, Belgium, and Ireland.
The list of safe cities extends beyond those in developed countries, with cities like Singapore and Dubai from developing nations also making the cut. Some of the cities included are Amsterdam, Seoul, Singapore, Tokyo, Berlin, London, Sydney, Barcelona, Honolulu, Rome, Dubai, Paris, and Brussels.
Berkshire Hathaway based its list on responses from travelers, the Economist's Safe Cities list, GeoSure Global's indicator, and Numbeo's Crime Index. Copenhagen, Denmark and Montreal, Canada are the next safest cities for tourists, with Barcelona, Honolulu, Rome, and Brussels also featured.
London, Sydney, and Paris are among the safest cities in the world, alongside Singapore, Tokyo, and Dubai. The list of safest cities is a valuable resource for travellers, guiding them towards locations that prioritise well-being and robust safety measures for tourists.
Travellers are advised to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings, even in the safest cities, to ensure a safe and enjoyable journey.
In light of the annual State of Travel Insurance Safest Destinations report, it's crucial for tourists to remember that while traveling to safe cities like Reykjavik, Amsterdam, Seoul, or Singapore, issues might still arise during their journeys. Consequently, maintaining a travel lifestyle that includes being vigilant and aware of surroundings can contribute significantly to a safe and enjoyable travel experience.
