Expanded Travel Option Arrives for Belarusian Residents
A new transportation alternative has emerged, offering a faster route to reach the Baltic Sea. This new option, the Kaliningrad - Chelyabinsk passenger train, will recommence operation through Belarus from June 2. Tickets are now available for departures up to September 15.

Departing from the South Station in Kaliningrad, the train will set off on Mondays at 09:55 and pass through Smolensk, Tula, Penza, Samara, and Ufa before arriving in Chelyabinsk on Thursdays at 06:18. The return journey will depart from Chelyabinsk on Thursdays at 19:35 and arrive in Kaliningrad on Sundays at 13:25. The train will also stop in various Belarusian cities, including Orsha-Central, Borisov, Minsk-Passazhirsky, Molodechno, and Smorgon.
The 2-day, 17-hour, and 23-minute journey is expected to be popular due to its convenience and affordability. Ticket prices for a coupe compartment are Br516.13, while the platzkart option costs around Br290. Tickets can be purchased 90 days before the departure date.

Visa Requirements
Travelers should be aware that the train traverses EU borders, necessitating a valid Schengen visa for the journey. Passengers who intend to re-enter the EU after Kaliningrad will require a different visa type. Belarusian Railways have confirmed that they do not request a visa during ticket purchases, but they do inform passengers of the visa requirement. Additionally, train conductors will verify visas upon boarding, even though there are no stops for boarding or disembarking during the journey.
