Sensory Delight at Trisara, Phuket: Indulge Your Senses in Thailand's Exceptional Experience

Nestled on the idyllic island of Phuket, the luxurious Trisara resort offers more than just stunning Thai massages and delicious local cuisine. This heavenly garden, named Trisara which means "the garden in the third heaven", is a culinary and cultural haven that promises an unforgettable experience.

The resort's main restaurant, Cielo & Spice, offers a mouth-watering menu of Asian favourites, while La Crique serves up juicy lobster and tiger prawns fresh from the Andaman Sea. But the real culinary gem is PRU, the resort's Michelin-starred restaurant that boasts a "green" Michelin star for its commitment to sustainability.

At PRU, the executive chef, Jimmy Ophorst, a Dutch culinary maestro, transforms the often malodorous durian fruit into a delightful dish, dubbed "The King of the Fruits". This durian-based dish boasts a delicate, creamy texture and a pleasant nutty taste that is sure to surprise and delight.

The kitchen at PRU has no "fourth wall", allowing guests to watch the chefs prepare the food in an open and interactive setting. Each dish is explained by Chef Florian Desportes, a native of Lyon, France, adding an enchanting touch to the dining experience. The menu at PRU leans towards European cuisine but is also infused with the rich flavours of Thailand.

Beyond the culinary delights, Trisara is steeped in Thai cultural heritage. The resort operates its own farm, growing most of the herbs and many vegetables. Nearby, a large lake is home to ducks whose eggs are used in the resort's restaurants.

Traditional Thai crafts such as ceramics and silk textiles, handmade embroidered fabrics, and silk scarves are also notable cultural exports from Thailand. These artisanal products, with deep historical roots, especially linked to the Sukhothai Kingdom era, showcase the rich cultural heritage of Thailand.

The second restaurant at Trisara, Jampa, is housed in a stylish, modern building with a slight safari-lodge feel. Jampa offers real farm-to-fork dining, with the leg and breast of dry aged pigeon being a particular favourite. The seven-course "Jampa Experience" menu is priced around £95, offering a more affordable dining option for those seeking a taste of Trisara's culinary delights.

In the high, drier season, much of the dining can be enjoyed outside, with live music adding to the ambiance. The bar, 7.8oN, is perfect for an aperitif cocktail, offering views of the resort's private beach and swimming pool.

Beyond the well-known Thai massage, cuisine, and Muay Thai, Thailand's cultural exports include these traditional crafts and textiles, reflecting the country's rich history and craftsmanship. A visit to Trisara is not just a holiday, but a journey into the heart of Thai culture and cuisine.
