Significant happenings and October updates in the UAE: unveiling of new projects, policy announcements, and significant developments
Get ready for an exciting season ahead as various tourist attractions and events prepare to reopen their doors! Here's a roundup of the latest updates:
The Dubai Safari Park, home to over 3,000 animals, will reopen on October 14, 2025. Visitors can look forward to interactive experiences, feeding sessions, educational shows, and themed villages and wildlife enclosures.
Dubai's Global Village, which welcomed a record 10.5 million visitors last year, will reopen on October 15, 2025, and run until May 10, 2026.
Meanwhile, the European Union is launching its new Entry/Exit System on October 12, 2025. This system replaces manual passport stamps with biometric checks, including fingerprint and facial scans, and digital logging of passport details and travel dates. It will apply to both UAE passport holders and residents traveling with Schengen visas, and information will be stored securely for up to three years or until the passport expires.
As for Dubai's iconic landmarks, the Dubai Fountain, located at the base of Burj Khalifa, is expected to reopen in early October 2025. However, specific dates have not been announced yet. The Dubai Fountain's renovation includes a new water-resistant base, waterproofing layers, and glowing blue tiles.
In Abu Dhabi, the Sheikh Zayed Festival will reopen from November 1, 2025, to March 22, 2026. This cultural event celebrates Emirati culture and heritage while also showcasing international traditions. The festival attracts families from across the UAE and tourists from around the world. Daily parades, concerts, dazzling fireworks, cultural pavilions, heritage villages, and food stalls are just some of the highlights.
Lastly, Dubai Miracle Garden, known as the world's largest natural flower garden, is expected to open soon, but dates are yet to be announced. Visitors can expect to see elaborate displays, including heart-shaped arches, life-sized houses, floral sculptures of animals, cartoon characters, and even an Emirates A380 aircraft.
On a different note, Emirates passengers will no longer be able to use power banks during flights starting from October 1, 2025. Passengers may still carry one onboard but only under specific safety conditions.
