Southbound journey of UK anniversary celebration continues
Hopping Around Thailand for a Jolly Good Time!
The British Embassy is throwing a bash, folks! They're hosting the "170th Outreach Roadshow and British Fair" all across Thailand to celebrate the 170-year-long tie between the UK and Thailand.
Led by the Ambassador, Mark Gooding, and his mates—the agriculture and commercial counsellors—this roadshow aims to spotlight the British-Thai collaboration under the theme "Our Shared World: Environment, Wildlife, Marine, Nature, Climate, Agriculture, and Sustainable Tourism".
Kicking off in Phuket, the party moved to Krabi, with Surat Thani next on the list. Expect more events as part of the embassy's year-long nationwide celebration.
In Krabi, Ambassador Gooding and crew visited the Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation, witnessed some UK-backed veterinary care, and planted trees together. During his trip, he also checked out some eco-friendly hotels and met with the Krabi governor to chat about road safety.
Moving on to Surat Thani, the agenda includes a roundtable lunch with local businesses about tourism, agriculture, and sustainability. A visit to a shrimp farm will demonstrate the UK's collaborative efforts in aquaculture and food security.
The southern roadshow concludes with the British Fair 2025 at Big C Surat Thani—don't miss it from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday!
Mr. Gooding mentioned that the roadshow will make its way to the Eastern Economic Corridor in July, focusing on "Our Shared Wealth and Prosperity".
"This roadshow brings together our long-standing ties with Thailand, spanning education, innovation, and sustainability. We're proud to showcase the depth and width of our partnership in this 170th year," said Gooding.
