The award-winning Cala Goloritze, nestled on the stunning eastern coast of Italy's Sardinia island, has ascended to the throne as the #1 best beach in the world according to the latest review from the travel virtuosos at The World's 50 Best Beaches.

Only 250 people are allowed to visit Cala Goloritze each day, and tickets must be reserved through the Heart of Sardinia app. The beach earned its Natural Italian Monument classification in 1995.

Cala Goloritze held the top spot, followed by Entalula Beach in the Philippines and Thailand's Bang Bao Beach in the global ranking. The top five list was completed by Fteri Beach in Greece and PK 9 Beach in Fakarava, French Polynesia.
The annual ranking by The World's 50 Best Beaches is based on the votes of over a thousand travel industry professionals.
