Subsidized Air Journey to Lake Alakol
Beginning June 1, 2025, Kazakhstan's SCAT airline will initiate subsidized flights to Usharal, a destination nestled near Lake Alakol, according to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Each week, seven flights will depart from the capital and Usharal, as well as from Almaty to Usharal, with tickets priced at 20,000 tenge. Additionally, SCAT will operate subsidized flights between the capital and Urjar, and Almaty and Urjar, with the same weekly frequency.
The announcement represents an opportunity for Kazakh citizens to affordably travel to Lake Alakol during the holiday and vacation season, via air, train, or car.
Notably, SCAT operates at Terminal 2 of Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport for both domestic and international flights, functioning as a focus city at this airport. However, exact schedules and ticket prices for the seasonal service to Usharal and Urjar from Astana or Almaty remain to be announced.
