Ten-Kilometer Swim Party Algarve® Resumes

Get ready for an unforgettable open water adventure in the Algarve!

This year, the vibrant waters of the Algarve coastal region will play host to a global gathering of passionate swimmers hailing from an impressive 11 countries. Kick off your flip-flops and prepare to dive into the waves with participants from Norway, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Germany, the UK, South Africa, Brazil, the USA, and Poland—each bringing their unique tales and zest for open water swimming.

With the 55th anniversary of Algarve's dedication to tourism, this year's event stands as a testament to the community's shared love for water sports and camaraderie. The organizers, Visit Algarve, the Municipality of Lagoa, and a dedicated network of local and national partners, continue to support this community-led event that celebrates the power of shared experiences.

Unlike traditional competitions, the SwimParty10km Algarve® boasts an authentic, boutique swim vibe where comradeship, connections, and the thrill of the journey trump rankings and stopwatch times. Choose your adventure—swim solo, with or without a wetsuit, or team up as a three-person relay. The spirit of collective challenge and coastal discovery awaits!

The 10km course guides swimmers through a breathtaking slice of Algarve coastline, starting at Praia do Carvalho and meandering past Praia do Vale de Centeanes and the famous Praia do Carvoeiro, before culminating at the picturesque Praia dos Caneiros. Dare to immerse yourself in the "open water heaven" that awaits!

Following your swim, treat yourself to a celebratory seafood feast at Rei das Praias, one of the Algarve's most beloved beachfront restaurants, accompanied by Alentejo wines from Herdade do Sobroso and an exclusive wine tasting for those who linger. The sweet tooth in you will rejoice with a surprise cake creation by Delícias. Last year's masterpiece, a sea-inspired cake that left everyone wanting more, has set the bar high for this year's confectionery creation!

Local arts and culture will also be showcased through one-of-a-kind prizes, handcrafted by the iconic Olaria Porches Pottery. Swimmers will have the opportunity to take home a piece of Algarvean ceramic heritage!

Safety and care remain top priorities. Both in and out of the water, swimmers are supported by the Portimão Maritime Police, the Lagoa Fire Brigade, and a dedicated team of volunteers. On-course nutrition is expertly managed by Precision Fuel & Hydration, ensuring swimmers stay fueled and hydrated throughout their adventure.

As Mariana Moura Santos, co-founder of SwimParty10km Algarve®, eloquently puts it, "When community, nature, and sport unite, magic happens. This year, we aim higher—more swimmers, more stories, and more reasons to adore the Algarve."

Co-founder Svetlana Zadedyurina adds, "What started as an idea born in the waters of Croatia has grown into a new tradition here in Portugal—one that values friendship over figures and experience over ego."

Registration for the 2023 event remains open until 31 July, and interest is quickly growing. Don't hesitate—seize the opportunity to join this global celebration of open water swimming!
