Tourism Ministry Engages in Three-Day Global Travel Convention Held in London's World Travel Market
The India Pavilion at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2019, held in London from 4th to 6th November, showcased the country's rich cultural, historical, and natural heritage. Led by the Ministry of Tourism, this year's pavilion was themed "Incredible India – Find the Incredible India," highlighting India's diverse attractions and promoting it as a prime tourist destination.
The pavilion was inaugurated by the Secretary (Tourism) and High Commissioner of India to the UK, Ms. Ruchi Ghanashyam, in the presence of the Secretary of the Union Ministry of Tourism, Yogendra Tripathi, who was leading the official delegation. The Additional Director General (Tourism), Rupinder Brar, was also part of the delegation.
The Incredible India Pavilion featured 32 stakeholders, including State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, Air India, IRCTC, Hotels, Wellness resorts, and tour operators, who participated as co-exhibitors. The pavilion was a vibrant display of India's tourism potential, with various activities such as cultural programs, Yoga demonstrations, Henna Application, Indian Food tasting, Turban tying, and Saree tying.
A Panel Discussion was organized on Monday, themed "Incredible India - Find the Incredible You," for showcasing India as an experiential destination. Nina Dos Santos, CNN Europe Editor, moderated the discussion. This year, the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the Statue of Unity were being promoted and publicized in the India Pavilion.
