Travel company G Adventures introduces expedition to Moldova and presents new solo adventure tour in Romania
G Adventures Introduces New Trips Promoting Community-Based Tourism in Eastern Europe
Travel company G Adventures has launched three new small-group trips to Moldova and Romania, focusing on community-based tourism and supporting local communities in these lesser-visited Eastern European countries.
The trips include a 7-day "Moldova Discovery," an 8-day "Highlights of Romania & the Danube Delta," and a combined 14-day "Heart of the East: Romania & Moldova Adventure."
These trips are designed to benefit local communities by including them early in the supply chain and conversations about tourism development. They bring travellers to undiscovered places that do not experience overcrowding but offer rich cultural, historical, and natural experiences.
The Moldova trip begins in Chisinau and includes visits to the Monastery of Saharna, surrounded by forests and waterfalls. Travellers will also experience a cooking masterclass at a traditional agro-pension and a visit to Gagauzia, where they can witness a recreation of a traditional wedding ceremony. Wine tasting in a 160km underground limestone cave is also on the itinerary.
The Romania trip starts in Bucharest and travels to the Transylvania region. Highlights include exploration of iconic Peles castle and medieval Bran Castle, famous for Bram Stoker's novel, Count Dracula. There is free time to stroll Medieval Bran. The journey continues to the undiscovered Buzau region of Romania, featuring the Berca Mud volcanoes.
In the Danube Delta, travellers will explore canals, lakes, and reed beds teeming with wildlife like pelicans, herons, and egrets. They will visit the remote village of Mila 23, accessible only by water, to learn about the local Lipovan community and their traditions, as well as the importance of the ecosystem. The trip concludes with a day on the wild beach of Sulina, where wild horses may be spotted.
Yves Marceau, G Adventures’ Vice President of Product, emphasizes that these trips embody the company’s commitment to "tourism done right" by ensuring that travel brings tangible benefit to communities in Moldova and Romania, which are often bypassed by other tour operators.
These trips offer immersive, culturally rich, and under-touristed experiences in underexplored Eastern European destinations. By supporting sustainable tourism that respects and embraces local traditions and economies, G Adventures aims to elevate community-based tourism in Moldova and Romania while providing authentic, immersive experiences to tourists.
