Channeling Childhood Magic: Kikeriki Children's Short Film Festival in Tulln

For young cinema enthusiasts, the Kunstwerkstatt Tulln transitions into an enchanting, cinematic haven from April 30 to May 25. This four-week extravaganza, known as the Kikeriki Children's Short Film Festival, serves up a delightful mix of riveting short films, interactive workshops, and engaging activities.

Every Wednesday and Sunday, the afternoons will be vibrantly hued with stories and films, setting the stage for a series of eight captivating sessions. Intriguingly, prior to each film screening, a nutritious snack is provided, ensuring little film aficionados are fueled with vitality and energy.

This year's theme revolves around "Great Challenges for Little Heroes!", showcasing around 60 short films from Austria and over 20 other countries. Expect animated adventures stemming from magical wardrobes, charismatic animal superstars, and resilient heroines who don't shy away from a challenge. Interactive workshops will follow suit, encouraging young participants to immerse themselves in the festival's creative spirit.

Festival director Lisa Mai and musician Christoph Schwarz have ensured that each afternoon brings something new. The grand finale, scheduled for May 25, promises not only engaging films but also a refreshing splash and dual language presentations in German and sign language. Special considerations have been made to accommodate children with special needs, incorporating retreat spaces, barrier-free access, and a willingness to cater to individual preferences, making the festival welcoming to all.
