Uncovering the Peaceful Routine of Tresco Island - The Joy of Idleness

The Isles of Scilly, a collection of idyllic islands off the coast of Cornwall, is home to a hidden gem - Tresco. Known for its unique natural beauty, exclusive atmosphere, and luxurious amenities, Tresco offers a tranquil escape for those seeking relaxation and indulgence.

Tresco's coastline boasts exceptionally soft, white sand beaches that resemble icing sugar, a stark contrast to the gravelly or coarser sands found elsewhere in England. Notable beaches such as Pentle Bay and Green Porth offer stunning turquoise waters and are framed by dunes and gently rolling landscapes, making them perfect for relaxation and swimming.

As a privately-owned island, Tresco offers a sense of exclusivity and seclusion that is rare in the UK. Visitors experience a tranquil, almost time-warped environment, free from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The island is known for its low crime rate, which further enhances the feeling of safety and peace.

One of Tresco's most significant attractions is the world-famous Tresco Abbey Gardens. This subtropical paradise is filled with vibrant plants from around the world, including rare and exotic species. The gardens are a major draw for horticulture enthusiasts and casual visitors alike, offering a tranquil escape and unique photo opportunities. Additionally, the island features two historic castles, adding a touch of heritage to its natural beauty.

Despite its remote location, Tresco offers high-quality amenities. Sophisticated cafes, an art gallery, and a spa add a touch of luxury to the island retreat. The New Inn offers good, old-fashioned British food, while the Flying Boat has an ever-changing menu that celebrates seasonal, Scillonian produce. The Ruin Beach Cafe is a casual restaurant famous for its wood-fired pizzas and exceptional gin list.

Accommodation on Tresco includes three types of cottage accommodation: Sea Garden Cottages, Flying Boat Cottages, and Traditional Cottages, all available to rent on a weekly basis. Rooms at The New Inn and the one-bedroom Sea Garden Cottages can also be booked by the night.

Getting to Tresco can be done by flying with Skybus from three airports (Land's End, Newquay, or Exeter) or by ferry from Penzance Harbour with the Scillonian III. Transfer to Tresco from St Mary's can be arranged by Tresco Boats, including airport pickup.
