Marissa Sasscer, a dedicated student at an institution pursuing an Associate's Degree in Illustration, has taken a semester off to promote her latest project - an illustrated children's book titled "Our Lady Undoer of Knots". Published in May 2022, this faith-based book is a collaboration with author Sylvia Dorham, marking their fourth project together.

The book, written in rhyme, uses an evocative image of Mary untying knots in a long, tangled white ribbon to symbolize problems in everyday life. This powerful symbolism is a testament to the skills Marissa has honed during her studies, particularly in Color Theory, Design and Composition, Digital Illustration, and Commercial Illustration.

"Our Lady Undoer of Knots" introduces young children to the Marian devotion of the same name, offering a unique blend of spirituality and children's literature. The story follows a little boy who learns to approach Mary in this way to solve his problems.

Marissa's primary goal as an illustrator is to bring colourful and engaging illustrations to children's books. Her work on this book was heavily influenced by the skills she learned during her Undergraduate Certificate in Illustration at Sessions.

In addition to "Our Lady Undoer of Knots", Marissa and Sylvia have previously collaborated on a workbook titled "Avoiding the Octopus: A Family Guide to Standing Strong Against Human Trafficking". They have also worked together on a book titled "A First Responder's Guide to Human Trafficking".

Marissa has been busy promoting her book at various events and venues, with her most recent book signing taking place at Artfest, a local music and artisan festival. The author is still in the process of scheduling book signings and acquiring booths at different Catholic Homeschooling Conferences.

With her sights set on expanding her work to different tiers of audience, such as middle graders or young adults, Marissa's future in the world of children's literature looks promising. As she continues her studies and promotes her work, readers can look forward to seeing more of her captivating illustrations in the future.
