WIBA Boosts Women in Blockchain: 200+ Graduates in Three Years

Women in Blockchain Asia (WIBA), launched in 2022, aims to boost female participation in the tech field. Co-founders Ida Mok and Jasmine Ng, with support from seven men, have grown WIBA to nearly 3,000 members, offering workshops and programs to empower women in blockchain and entrepreneurship.

WIBA began by organizing workshops and hackathons, providing women with tools and knowledge to build their own tech products. Ida Mok, also president of WIBA, emphasizes the importance of 'male allies' like George Wong, who serves as the honorary secretary and head of Singapore at The Sandbox. Wong, however, faces criticism for perceived tokenism.

WIBA's impact is evident: over 200 graduates, around 65% of whom are women, have benefited from their programs. These cover technical and non-technical skills in blockchain and entrepreneurship. Mok believes men can play more prominent roles in empowering women in the industry, echoing historical female empowerment movements led predominantly by women.

WIBA, co-founded by Ida Mok and Jasmine Ng, has grown significantly since 2022, offering programs to over 200 graduates. With nearly 3,000 members, WIBA continues to empower women in blockchain, with the support of male allies like George Wong. Despite criticism, WIBA's impact is clear, and the organization continues to foster equality of opportunities in the blockchain industry.
