Witch Broom Transport: Voluntary Initiative by LPV Rhön in Fischbach on August 25, 16.8.25

The picturesque sheep pastures along Germany's third most beautiful hiking trail, the Hexenpfad in Fischbach, are at risk of overgrowth. To maintain the trail and protect the habitat for the legendary mountain witch and other species, the LPV Rhön is seeking public support.

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, from approximately 10 am to 2 pm, a nature maintenance event will take place at the Hexenpfad trail. The meeting point for the event is the Hexenpfad parking lot at the Schullandheim in Fischbach, located at FischbachBergstraße 15, 36452 Fischbach.

Participants must bring their own work gloves, appropriate clothing, and footwear. Pruning shears and saws will be provided for maintenance tasks. Registration for the event can be done online at www.regiocrowd.com, by email at [email protected], or by phone at 03694620656. The registration deadline for the event is August 13, 2025, and the number of participants is limited to 20 (excluding children).

The event will commence with a 30-minute nature tour, followed by maintenance work on the trail. Coffee, cake, water, and homemade apple juice will be available at the top of the trail. Children are welcome, but the program and tasks are geared towards adults.

For more information about this event or other local conservation events, we recommend checking the official website or social media pages of the local municipality of Fischbach or the organizing environmental group. You can also contact local nature or hiking clubs, visit community centers or local environmental protection offices in Fischbach, or email or call the event organizers if contact information is provided in local announcements.

Join us in preserving this beautiful trail and helping protect the mountain witch and other species. Let's work together to ensure the Hexenpfad remains one of Germany's most beautiful hiking trails for years to come.
